Vancouver 2010, Sochi 2014 and PyeongChang 2018 all relied partially on manufactured snow. While all upcoming Games editions are required to be carbon neutral, from 2030 onwards the IOC will oblige all Games to be “climate positive”. Man-made snow has been used at previous Olympic Winter Games.
