In October this year the new Sustainable Buildings State Environmental Planning Policy will require architects and developers in NSW to start measuring the embodiedcarbon in their designs as Australia seeks to transition to a low-carbon built environment. What is embodiedcarbon?
Parliament took a more ambitious stance overall, determining that all new buildings should be zero-emission from 2028 and existing buildings would need to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. The EU Council agreed its general approach last year, and the European Parliament decided its negotiating position in March.
But we also have goals to, um, procure 100 percent renewable electricity by 2030 and work with our brand partners - 75 percent of our spend - to set their own science-based targets by the year 2028. Another thing that we're super proud of - our new commitment in terms of reducing embodiedcarbon by 40 percent by 2030.
Construction is planned to begin later this year, with full project completion expected by 2028. Currently, NorPro operates North American facilities in Bryan, Texas, Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee, and Stow and Norton, Ohio. We are excited for NorPro to join the Niagara County community.
