In partnership with global tech company Indra, Monash is developing a precinct scale microgrid platform as part of the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) funded Smart Energy City project. The Smart Energy City project will see the design, deployment and operation of a microgrid at Monash’s Clayton campus.

The building is powered by 100% renewable energy through community solar agreements with the Sacramento Municipal Utility District, reducing carbon emissions and air pollution as well as the energy demand from the utility grid. His work rests at the nexus of three fields: urban planning, community development, and public education.
