The Consumer Goods Forum (CGF)'s Sustainable Supply Chain Initiative (SSCI) benchmarks third-party sustainability auditing, monitoring, and certification standards against industry-developed criteria to provide trusted guidance on which standards cover key sustainability topics and operate responsibly.
This marks a significant milestone for EHPEA as it seeks SSCI Recognition , demonstrating its alignment with industry expectations for third-party social compliance programs within the SSCI’s Primary Production scope for socialsustainability.
This can be made more challenging because not all schemes cover sustainability topics the same way. The SSCI published its first benchmark in 2019, to recognise the third-party auditing, monitoring, and certification schemes that align to best practice in socialsustainability.
The SSCI currently benchmarks socialsustainability standards under three sectoral scopes (Manufacturing and Processing; At-Sea Operations; and Primary Production, including land-based aquaculture) and is currently working to expand the scope to include environmental standards.
